This 1998 Hummer H1 was one of the more interesting pieces that has come my way. It is now listed on BAT, with the auction ending on Feb 8th. With less than 11,000 miles it is unique because of its condition, but what really sets it apart are the period modifications it got to equip it for fly fishing.

A custom-made roof rack carries the fishing rods, and then in the rear compartment is a slide out kitchen powered by a 5,000 Watt generator and DC/AC inverter. Set at a high idle the generator provides 5kW to the inverter which then has plugs for 240V and 120V. The 'kitchen' has a microwave, cooler and electric grill which plug in.

Flip down TV, VCR, CB radio and portable Navigation were installed when new.

Electronics added to the interior include a TV with fold down screen, VCR and CB radio as well as a portable GPS. Optional equipment includes an 11,000lb winch, remote tire inflation/deflation and heavy duty brush guard.

Under body protection means you don't have to worry what you drive over...

Hummers don't make very good commuter vehicles, but if you need to climb over boulders and wade through streams they are pretty hard to beat. Portal axles drop the centreline of the wheels away from the axles, and the exceptionally wide central tunnel houses the driveline components and exhaust. Thick, tubular steel guards and steel sills protect the undercarriage from damage. The bottom is almost completely flat.

Kids are kept far apart, limiting driving distractions!

This packaging gives the lowest possible profile (target) with the most amount of ground clearance. The four seats are comically far apart, but this does give the added advantage that your children can't hit each other, keeping driving distractions to a minimum.

The BAT auctions promises to be amusing, and I'm sure there are at least a few people out there who want the ultimate off road fishing truck!
