#459 of 652 models built in Oshawa Ontario in 1966.

This Chevrolet II Nova Super Sport was purchaed new at Barber Motor in Weyburn Saskatchewan. It was purchased from the original owner in the mid-1980's and has been used sympathetically since - mostly driving to and from car shows. The car still wears all of its original finishes throughout and shows consistent patina from gentle use. It is almost entirely rust free and has original paint on all body panels.

The list of replacement parts that this car has needed has been remarkably short: new tires, battery, drivers seat cover, headlamp trim, some weather stripping and seals, exhaust and some suspension pieces.

The car has been sympathetically modified with the replacement of the original 2-speed Powerglide gearbox with a dimensionally similar 4-speed with O/D automatic from a 1985 Oldsmobile. This gives much better accelleration and more relaxed high speed cruising. Front disk brakes from a 1973 Pontiac Ventura replaced the stock drums. A dual Master Cylinder replaced the single version. Shocks and springs were replaced.

The heads were redone in the 1980's and a 500cfm 4-barrel Edelblrock carburettor replaced the stock 2-barrel Rochester. The cast iron intake manifold was replaced with a polished aluminium version from Professional Products. The cast iron exhaust manifolds were replaced with Headman 1.5" ceramic coated long tube headers and a new 2" diameter exhaust. The cast alternator cover was replaced with chrome, and the air cleaner and valve cover were replaced with new chrome pieces. A Petronix electronic ignition replaced the original points. A complete list of the modifications is included in the image gallery.

All of the service work was fully documented and presented in an organized file. All original parts, including the 2 speed Powerglide, were retained and go with the car. Original documentation includes the owners manual, protect-o-plate, service record manual and factory build sheet.

The interior is extremely well preserved with the new reproduction drivers seat cover matching the original upholstery perfectly. Carpets, headliner, rear parcel shelf and dash are original an extremely well preserved. All gauges and the radio are functional apart from the clock. An aftermarket tachometer has been installed and a 3 gauge panel has been mounted on the lower dash, though only the oil pressure gauge is connected.

Overall this is a wonderful surviving example of a sought after Chevy II model. There are very few cars from this era remaining in original condition that have been consisetntly driven and maintained. There is no recommissioning necessary with this car - it has been in regular use for 40 years, and is ready to go anywhere.
