1973 Jaguar E Type Series 3 OTS (Open Two Seater)
This Series 3 V12 Jaguar is a Canadian market car that was sold new by Cooke Motors on Centre S. North in Calgary. The car was purchased by a Medicine Hat Physician own owned the car from new until he passed in around 2010. The car was purchased by his son-in-law who commissioned a restoration through Lawrence Romanosky, who project managed the work.
The car had a few isolated patches of rust caused by plugged drain tubes. It was stipped to bare metal and sent to Lyle at Rods n'Restos for repair to the trunk and rear fenders. Cosmos Collision, under the careful attention of Loc Ngo, repainted the car in the original Greensand hue.
The original olive hides were colour matched by Worldwide Upholstery in California, along with the carpet, and sent to Chinook Upholstery in Calgary who fitted the interior. Dynamat insulation was installed under the carpet. According to the Jaguar Heritage Trust, this was the first LHD E Type S3 to have an Olive interior.
A Jaguar Classic Stereo head unit and new speakers were installed by Mobile Solutions Calgary.
Mechanical work and assembly was done by Asit at XJ Motors in Calgary with the final tuning done by Dale Walmsley and Craig Talbot at Lugntuz. Sympathetic upgrades including a change to 4 SU carburettors, stainless steel headers and exhaust, large capacity aluminum radiator with twin electric fans and a high capacity starter motor.
Over $CAD 150,000 was spent for this cosmetic restoration and mechanical refurbishment, not including the price of the car.
