This Porsche Macan was introduced to North American markets in the Spring of 2014 as a 2015 model. This Macan S was sold new at Porsche Centre Vancouver, and went into service March 31, 2015. At this time the demand for the Macan, particularly the 'S', was very strong and customers faced waiting times of greater than one year in many cases.
This example is the 'S' version which featured a Porsche 3.0L twin turbo V6, which differed from the Audi derived V6 turbo engines which were installed later in the Macan production run. The Porsche designed V6 in the first Macans had the turbochargers outboard and beneath the engine where they had less effect on engine temperatures. These engines were also tuned for higher rpm performance and a sportier drive.
With the 2019 facelift, Macan S, GTS and Turbo started using the Audi 2.9/3.0L family of engines which were more oriented to mid range torque rather than peak output. Also, the turbo chargers were placed in the center of the V (Hot V), which resulted in high under-bonnet temperatures. The Audi designed 'Hot V' engines placed the exhaust ports where they could be closer to the catalytic converters which were relocated to the top of the engine. This improved emissions, but resulted in very high temperatures in the engine bay as there was no easy way to evacuate the exhaust heat.
This Macan S was well equipped with the 'Premium Plus Pacakge' - the top trim package. The Bose Sound upgrade was also included in this build, along with the dash top compass. The MRSP of this Porsche Macan S would have been approximaltely $80,000 plus freight/PDI and dealer adds.
It was driven in Vancouver until August 2024 when it was sold into Calgary with about 40,500km. It now shows just under 59,000km - very low for this type of vehicle.
The vehicle presents without any material flaws, and is impossible to reasonably fault for the year and mileage. It wears full front PPF which covers the entire front clip and shows minimal wear. The interior looks new. The windscreen is free from rock chips. The tires and brakes have about 25% left, and are most likely good for another 10,000km. This Macan was inspected and serviced at Alpine Autowerks in Feb 2025 with 52,445km where it received an oil service. The invoice is in gallery. Apart from some 'sweating'- light from the left timing chain cover and transmission pan, heavy from right side timing cover-the vehicle received a clean bill of health. The aluminum timing chain bolts, the cause of Macan S timing cover leaks, can be replaced with stainless steel replacements which cure the leaks in most cases and does not require the removal of the engine. This procedure was recommended by Alpine.
If the car were to stay in Calgary the next owner could fit a set of winter tires on the OEM 19" wheels and easily get another season out of the summer tires that are on the car. Alternatively we could look for a set of 20" or 21" summer wheels/tires if the next owner wanted two sets of rims.
In summary this is a very well kept Macan with the desirable Porsche designed 3L Twin Turbo engine, with very low km and coming from a benign climate without Calgary road salt or temperature extremes. It presents as a one or two year old vehicle - not a 10 year old one - and still has many more decades of useful service and sporty driving ahead of it.
Priced to sell at $35,000, FOB Calgary.
